“Regardless of what people say they value or believe, what actually shows up in
their behavior is the best indication of the true culture.”
― David Friedman, Culture by Design
In our line of work, we are constantly competing – whether it be for business or talent – with our worthy rivals in the marketplace. Every firm offers a similar suite of services and can boast a team with exceptional expertise and relationships. But what differentiates us, in my biased opinion, is our team-centered approach. What we mean by that is that every client is getting the best mix of talent, expertise, strategy, and tactics to achieve their objectives. Our individual relationships and expertise, coupled by how we work together, makes us unique.
A team-centered approach has been foundational for Triad as a firm, but we became intentional about focusing on it and nurturing it over the past couple of years. During the fall of 2019, we were introduced to the work of David Friedman and his book Culture by Design, which I have mentioned in prior blog posts. Over a 2-month period, we examined our culture and the “fundamental behaviors” which embody it and solidified The Triad Way. This has become the glue that binds our team together.
We have ritualized these fundamentals through weekly discussions and insights. It allowed us to thrive during very challenging times during the pandemic, and ultimately allowed us to adopt a work from anywhere policy and eliminate PTO. We have been able to do all this because we trust one another, we have each other’s backs, we understand the expectations and we hold each other accountable.
This culture isn’t new, it’s just enhanced. It has become something we believe our firm should share and any new talent we hire should want. In that vein, we recently had the opportunity to discuss our fundamentals with Culturewise through a series of video interviews which they compiled into a short video. I hope you take the time to watch and see what makes us #TeamTriad.
