As I wrap up my internship at Triad Strategies, I’ve been reflecting on how impactful this experience has been as I begin my post-graduate journey. Coming into the summer, I was eager to see how a firm like Triad fits into the legislative and political process in Pennsylvania, and I can confidently say I now have a much deeper appreciation for the work that happens at the intersection of policy, advocacy, and governance.
From the very beginning, I was welcomed into a team that values collaboration, respect, and mentorship. I had the privilege of seeing the legislature in action, observing how bills move through committees, and gaining a front-row view of the complexities of state politics. Watching the Pennsylvania Legislature navigate budget negotiations deepened my understanding of government relations but also underscored how essential collaboration and communication are to making progress, even in the most challenging circumstances. Sitting in on committee meetings, hearings, and session days gave me a front-row view of the challenges, negotiations, and compromises that go into shaping a state budget.
Beyond the Capitol, I worked on research and policy tracking projects that allowed me to sharpen my analytical skills and deepen my understanding of the issues shaping Pennsylvania. I monitored legislation as it moved through the process, analyzed potential impacts for clients, and compiled reports that helped the team stay ahead of emerging developments. These projects pushed me to think critically, distill complex information into clear takeaways, and connect policy details to the broader political landscape. In doing so, I not only learned more about the issues facing Pennsylvanians but also gained practical experience in how to evaluate legislation through both a policy and strategic lens.
This internship has been more than just a professional opportunity. It has been a chance to grow personally as well. I’ve learned the importance of building strong relationships, staying curious, and approaching challenges with both empathy and determination. These lessons will stay with me as I continue my academic journey this fall in Rome, where I’ll be pursuing a Master’s in Policy and Governance at LUISS University.
I am incredibly grateful to Triad for welcoming me with open arms and making me feel like a true part of the team. Your support, encouragement, and guidance have made this experience so meaningful. A special thank you to everyone at Triad for giving me the opportunity to learn from such a dedicated and passionate group of professionals.
My time at Triad has been unforgettable, and I will carry these insights with me as I take on new challenges ahead. I am honored to have learned so much from a team who demonstrated every day what it means to approach politics with integrity, empathy, and professionalism.
