Lehigh Valley International Airport (LVIA) has become one of the Commonwealth’s fastest
growing transportation hubs. As the fourth largest airport in Pennsylvania, LVIA continues
to rapidly expand and grow in both its passenger and cargo operations.

In 2025 alone, more than 1 million passengers traveled through LVIA – setting an all-time
high for the airport. During that same period, LVIA also managed 302 million pounds of
freight – which enabled the airport to receive the designation as the third largest cargo
airport on the eastern seaboard.

Given this impressive growth, it comes as no surprise that LVI serves as a critical gateway
for travelers and the nation’s supply chain.

However, as we all know, with success comes new challenges.

As traveler traffic continued to grow, it was evident that LVIA’s existing surface parking lots
were no longer able to meet the demand during peak travel periods and extended flights.
With limited room to expand outwards, the only viable solution would be to build up
instead of out.

To bring this project to fruition, the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) partnered
with Triad Strategies to garner strong support for the project among Lehigh Valley elected
officials, as well as key decisionmakers in the Governor’s Office, PennDOT, and the General
Assembly.

Together, LNAA and Triad developed a comprehensive funding strategy that maximized
available state resources in conjunction with the airport authority’s own investment.
By leveraging multiple state funding sources, we were able to successfully secure the
critical funding needed to close any remaining financial gaps – particularly with a $2.75
million Redevelopment Capital Assistance Program (RACP) grant that was announced by
the Shapiro Administration earlier this month.

This approximately $46 million state-of-the-art parking garage project represents a
significant investment in LVIA’s future from both an infrastructure and economic
standpoint. The five-level parking garage will expand parking capacity from 1,700 to 2,700
spaces, double the number of ADA-compliant parking spaces available to travelers, and
add additional electric vehicle charging stations. This project will also create prevailing
wage construction jobs that will support the regional economy and promote workforce
development.

We are proud of our longstanding partnership with the LNAA and the collaborative efforts
we have made thus far to help advance projects that create long-term, sustainable benefits
to the region.

As LVIA continues to experience record-breaking growth, we look forward to continuing our
support of its mission in serving the needs of its millions of travelers now and well into the
future.
