No Hill is too high for our newest Associate, Olivia Edwards, who has worked in both the U.S. and Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Olivia started her career in policy as a Congressional intern for Representative Ryan Costello of Chester and Berks counties. It wasn’t long before she was offered a unique opportunity to join the team at Citi Global Government Affairs in 2015 during the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations. There she utilized her research and communications skills to coordinate policy initiatives for nearly 200 countries where Citi operates.
After the Trans-Pacific Partnership was signed, Olivia left Washington, D.C. and came back to Central Pennsylvania to take part in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives’ prestigious Bi-Partisan Management Committee’s Legislative Fellowship. There she worked on the Consumer Affairs and Local Government Committees. As a fellow, she researched and covered a variety of issues including telecommunications, municipal authorities, and voting practices. Shortly after the conclusion of the Fellowship, Olivia began working for the PA House Republican Caucus managing multiple Capitol offices for members.
In addition to being an excellent researcher and communicator, Olivia is also a published author in the realm of political philosophy. She was a student of the Director of Human Rights Law at Yale, Professor Paul Kahn. Her paper, “You Believe: Political Theology and the Modern American Democracy” utilizes Kahn’s works to outline how the sovereignty of law is legitimized when it grants freedoms to act. Olivia continues to study modern democratic theory in her spare time.
Olivia is a graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Law & Society. Olivia never sits still; she is an avid tennis player, hiker, and amusement park enthusiast. She also enjoys travelling to historical sites across the United States and is especially fond of her Southern roots. As a resident of Midtown, you can also find her at Brunch after church, volunteering with the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg, or running along the Green Belt. You can follow her on Twitter at @OliviaEdwardsPA.
